Taking a sabbatical after 50.

About me

I am South African-born and recently turned freelance writer. My love of life, food, culture, and travel makes my heart skip!

I moved to France at the end of the 90s with my three daughters, who are all grown up and left the nest. We spend the summers in Europe and the winters in South Africa, something we are fortunate enough to be able to do.

Living in France and being close to other countries makes travel easy. From Spanish dancing in Seville to disco dancing in Ibiza to tracking wild dogs in the Kruger Park or running away from stray hippos on the East coast of Africa, life is an experience which is both thrilling and exhilarating.

I am curious and passionate about everything foreign and testing out all the culinary treats wherever I go, from foie gras in France to chicken feet in South Africa; I am always up for the experience. Including the chance to meet new people and discover different cultures.

Nothing compares to having a best friend to lend an ear, it saves you a fortune in the long run, on psychology bills. We bonded, spoke on every subject under the sun and really enjoyed each other’s company. We felt like real companions without the sex.
Like a married couple really!
